Why Us
Why use Trash Can Willy's in Rochester
We are a local, veteran-owned junk removal company, A+ rated by the Better Business Bureau and 17+ years in business. Here is what that means on a Rochester job.
Point. Relax. We haul.
Garages full? Basement getting overwhelming? Renovation debris piling up? Point, relax, we haul. Single items start at $35 and it runs to a whole property, and most weeks our Rochester crews are doing garage and basement cleanouts, apartment turnovers, renovation debris, office cleanouts, storage unit clear-outs and estate cleanouts.
Our own crews, and the largest trucks in New England
You get friendly professionals who respect your home, not a mystery crew with a logo slapped on the door. We operate fully insured trucks, we train the teams to protect floors, walls and doorways, and they watch your corners, your carpets and your floors on the way out. We use the largest trucks in New England: bigger trucks, fewer trips, better value. Two or three of us come in uniform inside a two-hour window, with a call about 20 minutes ahead.
We take the fridge the drop-off will not
The residential drop-off on Rochester Neck Road will not take a refrigerator or an air conditioner at all, and electronics are never collected at the curb here at any time of year. Bulky pickup comes round once a month, so a dead fridge in a Rochester cellar can sit a long while. Our branch is in this city, so a Rochester job starts in our own yard.
This is a branch town, not a drive-to town
Our Rochester branch dispatches the Seacoast and Lakes Region jobs, so work in this city starts in our own yard. Honest, upfront pricing and no mystery fees, and eco-friendly sorting means up to 85% of what we haul is recycled or donated rather than landfilled. Reusable items in the load may earn you a discount on the job.
Priced on the work, not the air in the truck
Most junk removal companies charge by how much truck space you use. Bricks or feathers, packed tight or full of air, you can pay the same simply because it takes up the same space. We price the actual job: weight, labor, difficulty and access. And our trucks are huge. Three of many competitors' trucks can fit inside one of ours, which means fewer trips to unload, less time spent dumping and lower costs we can pass on to our customers. Your price is approved before anything moves and doesn't change afterward. Plus, we beat any written quote.
Local. Veteran-owned. No franchise fees.
Steve built Trash Can Willy's on the same principles he learned in the military: show up when we say we will, honor our quote, communicate clearly and leave your property better than we found it. We're local, not a franchise. No call centers, corporate runaround or franchise fees built into your price. We're BBB A+ Accredited, licensed and insured, and a portion of every job supports Wounded Warrior Family Support. Fair pricing. Great communication. No stress. Just a job done right.

What Rochester customers say about us
You can find all of these on Google, each one bearing a customer's name and their town. Rochester is our own branch city, so these came from downtown on the Cocheco and from Gonic and East Rochester.

FAQ
Questions we get about junk removal in Rochester
How much does junk removal in Rochester cost?
Single items start at $35, and $40 comes off any job above that. Past that we price the job itself: what it weighs, the labor it takes, how difficult it is and how hard it is to get to. Anything we can resell, donate or recycle comes off that price, and we beat any written quote you already have in hand.
What do you take in Rochester?
You name it, we take it. Furniture, appliances, electronics, household clutter, yard debris, construction debris, hot tubs, sheds, pianos and the whole contents of a basement, garage or attic. The rule of thumb is simple: if two or three strong guys can lift it, it goes on the truck. The short list we cannot take is hazardous: wet paint, gasoline and other fuels, solvents and propane tanks.
Do you recycle and donate?
Yes, up to 85 percent of what we haul. Usable furniture and household goods go to donation partners, metal goes to scrap and electronics go to a certified recycler. If something coming out of your house still has resale value we take a discount off your price for it, and sometimes we even buy your junk.
Do you do full house cleanouts in Rochester?
Yes, and they are a large part of what we do. Estates, foreclosures, evictions, hoarding situations, move-outs and downsizing, plus the basement, attic or garage on its own. We are the professional experts on cleanouts, hot tubs, sheds and pianos. Where we can we clear the whole property in one visit, sweep it, and send photos when it is empty. Here it is often a storage unit you are done paying for, or an apartment that has to be turned before the weekend.
Do you take fridges, freezers and air conditioners?
Yes, and it is one of our most common calls here, because the city drop-off will not accept them. Sealed refrigeration has to have its refrigerant recovered by somebody licensed to do it, which is why it carries a recycling fee. We tell you that number when we quote, then we do the awkward part: getting a chest freezer up a bulkhead stair without taking the door frame with it.
How soon can you get to Rochester?
Same-day or next-day is often possible. Our own yard is in Rochester, so this is where the trucks start rather than somewhere they drive to.
How do you quote a job?
Call or text 603-490-2177 with a description or a few photos and we give you a price range on the spot. That phone quote is our best guess, not a binding number. When the crew arrives they look at the job and confirm the exact price before any work starts. Once you approve it, it does not change. For big jobs and full cleanouts we come out for a free on-site estimate, Monday to Friday 9 to 5.
Do you beat other quotes?
Yes. Bring us any written estimate from another company and we beat it by up to 10%. And every week we draw one customer's completed job and refund it in full, so keep your receipt.
Do I need to be home?
Not if we can get to the stuff. Plenty of jobs are booked by phone, hauled while you're at work, and closed out with photos and a card payment. If access is tight or you want to point at things yourself, be there and we'll walk it with you.
When will you actually show up?
You get a two-hour arrival window and a courtesy call about 20 minutes out, so you're not sitting around all day. Most single-item pickups are done inside an hour of the truck arriving.
What won't you take?
Hazardous waste is the short list: wet paint or stain, gasoline and other flammable liquids loose in cans or drums, propane tanks, solvents, acids, antifreeze, motor oil, asbestos and medical waste. A mower, generator or snow blower with fuel or oil still in it is fine: we drain it as part of the job. Fully dried latex paint is fine. Everything else, if two people can lift it and it fits in the truck, we take it.
How do I pay, and how does the $40 off work?
Credit, debit, cash, or estate, certified and business checks. No personal checks. You get an emailed receipt before the truck leaves. Mention the coupon when you book any job and we take $40 off the quoted price, one per job.
