Why Us
Why Use Trash Can Willy's in Reading
We run Reading out of our Lawrence office and take furniture, appliances, a single item or the contents of a whole house for one price. The price we give you over the phone is our best guess, and the crew confirms the exact number at the door before anything moves.
No job is too big or too small
One desk carried out of a Haven Street apartment, or a full estate cleanout in one of the West Street houses. You name it, we take it. You point and we remove it from where it sits, so nothing has to be dragged to the curb and nothing is counted piece by piece at the door. We are licensed and insured.
We take what the town's truck will not
Bulk used to go out free with the weekly trash in Reading, and since the town went to automated collection it has to be scheduled and paid for in advance, item by item. Mattresses, box springs, construction debris, yard waste and riding mowers are not accepted on that truck at any price. We take all of it in one visit, for one number you approve before anything moves.
We work carefully in an older house
The older houses here have narrow original stairs and trim nobody can replace, and the town has a demolition delay bylaw for a reason. Our crews take pieces apart rather than force them, and they treat a renovation cleanout as a careful job rather than a fast one.
The largest trucks, and the house left as we found it
We use the largest trucks in New England, so a whole house goes in one load rather than a paid item at a time. Two or three of us come depending on the size of the job, trained personnel who watch your corners, your carpets and your floors on the way out. You get a two-hour appointment window and a call when we are 20 minutes out. Up to 85% of what we haul is recycled or donated at Reading-area facilities, and we provide donation receipts where they apply.
One fee covers all of it
No truck rental, no disposal fees, no equipment costs: one junk removal fee covers all of it, and you simply point to what you want removed. We do the rest, in a house, an office, a retail space being turned over or on a job site.
Priced on the work, not the air in the truck
Most junk removal companies charge by how much truck space you use. Bricks or feathers, packed tight or full of air, you can pay the same simply because it takes up the same space. We price the actual job: weight, labor, difficulty and access. And our trucks are huge. Three of many competitors' trucks can fit inside one of ours, which means fewer trips to unload, less time spent dumping and lower costs we can pass on to our customers. Your price is approved before anything moves and doesn't change afterward. Plus, we beat any written quote.
Local. Veteran-owned. No franchise fees.
Steve built Trash Can Willy's on the same principles he learned in the military: show up when we say we will, honor our quote, communicate clearly and leave your property better than we found it. We're local, not a franchise. No call centers, corporate runaround or franchise fees built into your price. We're BBB A+ Accredited, licensed and insured, and a portion of every job supports Wounded Warrior Family Support. Fair pricing. Great communication. No stress. Just a job done right.

Service Areas
The Reading neighborhoods we cover
We cover the whole town: downtown and the Haven Street blocks, the West Street historic district, the second historic pocket around Main, Highland and Federal Streets, and the postwar streets out toward the North Reading line. Reading is a regular run for us, not a special trip, and the same trucks work Wilmington, Woburn and Wakefield through the week, so a job that straddles a town line is still one job.
Zip codes we cover in Reading: 01867.

FAQ
Questions we get about junk removal in Reading
How is the price worked out in Reading?
We estimate what the load weighs, how long it will take and how hard it is to get to, and that is the whole calculation. No counting pieces at the door. Single items start at $35 and there is $40 off a any job. The crew confirms the number before we start and it stands unless you add to the pile.
Can you take furniture out of an old West Street house?
Yes, and carefully. The stairs in those houses are original and narrow, and the trim is not something you can replace at a lumberyard. We measure the turn before anything is lifted and take a piece apart rather than force it past something nobody can put back.
What do you take in Reading?
Furniture, appliances, electronics, bagged household junk, yard debris, hot tubs, sheds and the whole contents of a basement, attic or garage. You point and we carry it out from where it sits, so nothing has to be dragged to the curb and nothing is counted piece by piece at the door. Reading's bulk pickup runs on a published per-item price list and leaves out mattresses, box springs, construction debris and riding mowers, so those come with us instead, with any disposal charge they carry built into the price you approve.
Can you take down a shed or a fence?
Yes. Sheds, fences and playsets come down and go on the truck in one visit, and we clear the debris and pick up the hardware we can see before we leave. A brush pile with lumber mixed into it is fine too. Tell us the size when you call, because a garden shed and a two-bay barn are different jobs. We do not take a deck off a house, and treehouses are a no.
Do you do regular or repeat work for property managers?
Yes. We provide regular pickup schedules for property management companies, quarterly or seasonal cleanout packages for homes, and commercial waste management contracts for Reading businesses. We also have emergency cleanout options when the removal cannot wait. Our hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 4, so tell us the window when you call and we will fit it.
How fast can you get to Reading?
Reading is dispatched out of our Lawrence office and sits where I-93 and I-95 cross, so getting a truck here is easy from almost any direction. Same-day or next-day is often possible.
How do you quote a job?
Call or text 603-490-2177 with a description or a few photos and we give you a price range on the spot. That phone quote is our best guess, not a binding number. When the crew arrives they look at the job and confirm the exact price before any work starts. Once you approve it, it does not change. For big jobs and full cleanouts we come out for a free on-site estimate, Monday to Friday 9 to 5.
Do you beat other quotes?
Yes. Bring us any written estimate from another company and we beat it by up to 10%. And every week we draw one customer's completed job and refund it in full, so keep your receipt.
Do I need to be home?
Not if we can get to the stuff. Plenty of jobs are booked by phone, hauled while you're at work, and closed out with photos and a card payment. If access is tight or you want to point at things yourself, be there and we'll walk it with you.
When will you actually show up?
You get a two-hour arrival window and a courtesy call about 20 minutes out, so you're not sitting around all day. Most single-item pickups are done inside an hour of the truck arriving.
What won't you take?
Hazardous waste is the short list: wet paint or stain, gasoline and other flammable liquids loose in cans or drums, propane tanks, solvents, acids, antifreeze, motor oil, asbestos and medical waste. A mower, generator or snow blower with fuel or oil still in it is fine: we drain it as part of the job. Fully dried latex paint is fine. Everything else, if two people can lift it and it fits in the truck, we take it.
How do I pay, and how does the $40 off work?
Credit, debit, cash, or estate, certified and business checks. No personal checks. You get an emailed receipt before the truck leaves. Mention the coupon when you book any job and we take $40 off the quoted price, one per job.
