Why Us
Why Use Trash Can Willy's in Boston
You point, we take it from where it sits, and we do all the carrying.
We take jobs big and small
One desk carried down a shared stairwell, or a whole apartment cleared between tenants. Furniture, appliances, electronics, general trash, scrap metal and construction and renovation debris all go on the same truck. You point and we remove it from where it sits. We are licensed and insured.
We take what the city refuses
The city's own list of what it will not collect at any appointment is large exercise equipment, construction material, water heaters, plumbing fixtures and dishwashers, and its advice on all five is to donate it or hire a private hauler. It will not collect a mattress at all from a building of more than six units, and its crews will not come onto private property. We will: we come to the unit, take it from where it sits and carry it out ourselves.
The largest trucks in New England, and a price the franchises do not match
We use the largest trucks in New England, which is why a whole apartment goes in one trip and why our pricing is often cheaper than the national franchises. Two or three of us come depending on the size of the job, trained personnel who watch your corners, your carpets and your floors on the way down three flights. You get a two-hour appointment window and a call when we are 20 minutes out. Up to 85% of what we haul is sorted, donated and recycled rather than dumped.
We reduce the price for items with value
There is still a minimum charge, but if what is going out is in good condition and still has value we reduce your cost, and sometimes we waive it altogether. The crew looks for what we can resell, donate or recycle while it is pricing the job, so the sorting works in your favor.
Priced on the work, not the air in the truck
Most junk removal companies charge by how much truck space you use. Bricks or feathers, packed tight or full of air, you can pay the same simply because it takes up the same space. We price the actual job: weight, labor, difficulty and access. And our trucks are huge. Three of many competitors' trucks can fit inside one of ours, which means fewer trips to unload, less time spent dumping and lower costs we can pass on to our customers. Your price is approved before anything moves and doesn't change afterward. Plus, we beat any written quote.
Local. Veteran-owned. No franchise fees.
Steve built Trash Can Willy's on the same principles he learned in the military: show up when we say we will, honor our quote, communicate clearly and leave your property better than we found it. We're local, not a franchise. No call centers, corporate runaround or franchise fees built into your price. We're BBB A+ Accredited, licensed and insured, and a portion of every job supports Wounded Warrior Family Support. Fair pricing. Great communication. No stress. Just a job done right.

Service Areas
The Boston neighborhoods we cover
We work Boston north of the Mass Pike and we do not currently go south of it. That means downtown and the Wharf District, the North End, the West End, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Bay Village, Chinatown and the Leather District, Charlestown and East Boston with Eagle Hill, Jeffries Point and Orient Heights, and Fenway-Kenmore, Allston and Brighton out to the west.
We come east on the Mass Pike and Route 9 out of our Framingham office, so Boston is a regular run for us, not a special trip. If you are close to the line and not sure which side of it you are on, call and ask. If the truck can reach you, we can haul it.
Zip codes we cover in Boston: 02108, 02109, 02110, 02111, 02113, 02114, 02115, 02116, 02128, 02129, 02134, 02135, 02199 and 02215.

FAQ
Questions we get about junk removal in Boston
Which parts of Boston do you cover?
North of the Mass Pike. Downtown and the waterfront, the North End, the West End, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Bay Village, Chinatown and the Leather District, Charlestown, East Boston, Fenway-Kenmore, Allston and Brighton. We do not currently run south of the Pike. If you are near the line, call and we will tell you straight away rather than booking you and canceling.
What does an apartment cleanout cost in Boston?
It depends on what the load weighs, the labor it takes and how hard it is to get to. Single items start at $35, $40 comes off any job above that, and the crew confirms the number before anything is lifted. A studio is a small job, a three-bedroom walk-up is bigger, and a full estate can be more than one truck. We would rather tell you which one it is on the phone than halfway through the afternoon.
Can you get furniture down from a third-floor walkup?
Yes, and it is regular work in the walk-ups. Charlestown, Eagle Hill and Orient Heights in East Boston, the blocks off Hanover Street in the North End and the student blocks through Allston and Brighton all run three floors to one stairwell, with a turn at every landing. Two or three of us come, we take the piece apart rather than force it, and we watch your corners, your carpets and your floors on the way out.
Where will your truck park on my street?
We stop the 20-foot box truck wherever we can stop legally on your block, and we work that out before the day rather than discovering it on the day. We carry from the door rather than meeting you at the street, so nothing has to be moved out first. If your block is genuinely tight, tell us about the parking when you book.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes, but we offer low-cost options and discounts when items have resale value. Single items start at $35, and $40 comes off any job above that. After the job we check in to make sure you are completely satisfied.
How do you quote a job?
Call or text 603-490-2177 with a description or a few photos and we give you a price range on the spot. That phone quote is our best guess, not a binding number. When the crew arrives they look at the job and confirm the exact price before any work starts. Once you approve it, it does not change. For big jobs and full cleanouts we come out for a free on-site estimate, Monday to Friday 9 to 5.
Do you beat other quotes?
Yes. Bring us any written estimate from another company and we beat it by up to 10%. And every week we draw one customer's completed job and refund it in full, so keep your receipt.
Do I need to be home?
Not if we can get to the stuff. Plenty of jobs are booked by phone, hauled while you're at work, and closed out with photos and a card payment. If access is tight or you want to point at things yourself, be there and we'll walk it with you.
When will you actually show up?
You get a two-hour arrival window and a courtesy call about 20 minutes out, so you're not sitting around all day. Most single-item pickups are done inside an hour of the truck arriving.
What won't you take?
Hazardous waste is the short list: wet paint or stain, gasoline and other flammable liquids loose in cans or drums, propane tanks, solvents, acids, antifreeze, motor oil, asbestos and medical waste. A mower, generator or snow blower with fuel or oil still in it is fine: we drain it as part of the job. Fully dried latex paint is fine. Everything else, if two people can lift it and it fits in the truck, we take it.
How do I pay, and how does the $40 off work?
Credit, debit, cash, or estate, certified and business checks. No personal checks. You get an emailed receipt before the truck leaves. Mention the coupon when you book any job and we take $40 off the quoted price, one per job.
